Top 5 Effective Ways to Use Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is a potent natural antidote used to expel toxins and chemicals from the body, allowing them to be flushed out so the body doesn’t reabsorb them.

It’s made from a variety of materials, such as coconut shells or other natural hardwood sources. The nooks and crannies in activated charcoal are created through a burning process, and is then subjected to the activation of an oxidizing gas, such as steam or air, at high temperatures.


It’s important to note that activated charcoal is not your regular barbecue grill charcoal! Barbecue charcoal is loaded with toxins and chemicals, and should never be consumed.

Activated charcoal helps whiten teeth while promoting good oral hygiene by changing the pH balance in the mouth, helping prevent cavities, bad breath and gum disease.

To whiten your teeth naturally, wet a toothbrush and dip into powdered activated charcoal. Brush teeth as normal, paying special attention to areas showing the most staining. Sip a bit of water, swish through mouth thoroughly and spit. Rinse well, until saliva is clear.

2. Alleviates Gas & Bloating

Gas and abdominal distention can be readily helped with activated charcoal. Use 1 tablespoon as often as 3 or 4 times a day.

3. Skin & body health

Activated Charcoal is effective at helping with body odor and acne. To help with acne, 1 part of activated charcoal powder with two parts of aloe vera gel, and apply over face. Let dry and rinse off thoroughly. It is also good for spot applications.

4. Snake, Mosquito or insect bits

After a bee sting or mosquito bite, mix 1 teaspoon  of activated charcoal with 1/2  tablespoon of coconut oil, and apply on affected area. Reapply every 25 minutes until discomfort and itching are gone. Wrap with a bandage or napkin.

To help with bites from snakes and spiders, you want to cover a larger surface than just a small bandage, as the viruses and bacteria that lead to tissue damage need to be mitigated quickly.

5. Digestive Cleanse

For indigestion, peptic ulcers, or other forms of gastrointestinal distress; Stir about 1 tablespoon of activated charcoal into a large glass of water and allow the black part to settle to the bottom. The slurry water on the top may be drunk with GREAT results.
